AddĀ Barney to the list of franchises getting rebooted.
Mattel announced today (Monday) that the big purple dinosaur has gotten a redesign in a "comprehensive revitalization" and will appear in new movies, TV shows, YouTube content and merchandise.
The first new Barney project is an animated series that will debut next year. According toĀ IGN, it'll be targeted toward pre-schoolers and "will feature the ubiquitous purple dinosaur and friends, introducing new audiences to the world of Barney through music-filled adventures centered on love, community, and encouragement."
The new look, however, is already getting hate online.Ā DemiĀ LovatoĀ got her start on Barney ā and her mom,Ā DiannaĀ De La Garza, wrote, "Aww manā¦ I hate change."
