(Yahoo!) - The bloom is off the rose. After three years of marriage, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are going their separate ways.

A rep for Bloom confirmed the split to E! News late Thursday night. "In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation."

The statement continued, "Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family."

The 36-year-old British actor, who is currently appearing on Broadway in "Romeo and Juliet," and the 30-year-old Australian model began dating in 2007. They tied the knot in July 2010 and welcomed their only child, son Flynn, in January 2011.

The couple has been plagued by breakup rumors over the years, so we were happy to see them photographed appearing openly affectionate and looking closer than ever at the opening of Bloom's "Romeo and Juliet" on Broadway on September 19. At the time we remarked that the couple, "who are so rarely spotted at public events together (the last was an Oscars party!), broke tradition and mugged for the cameras practically draped over each other."

However, according to their own timeline, they were already separated at that point. Kerr also kept any troubles at home a secret when being interviewed for the November cover story in Cosmopolitan magazine.

"I'm not the boss like I am at work — I slip into a more feminine role," she said of their home life together. "I take everything off and put on my Stella McCartney silk robe. I'll put on a red lip or red nails, and it lifts my mood. Sexy underwear also gives you a spark. I collect underwear from my travels. Lace, lingerie, bodysuits ... they're like souvenirs."
